Each movements of the Mass represents one island from Indonesia. Gloria represents West Papua island, with traditional yelling and voice imitation of the traditional nose-flute.

A version for 3 part mixed choir (Soprano, Alto and Men) and organ is also available at: http://dwsolo.musicaneo.com/sheetmusic/sm-185192_Mass_for_three_part_mixed_choir_and_organ.html Because of its gently exotic modal flavours, the music was deemed to have a ring of "oriental promise" by one appreciative member of the congregation at the first performance. This setting has been sung in Cathedrals in Manchester, Southwell and Dublin and the Agnus has also featured in services at Christ Church Didsbury. The recording here is the Agnus Dei sung by the Voluntary Choir of Manchester Cathedral during their visit to Southwell Minster.  less
