The choir performs every Sunday evening in the Roman Catholic cathedral of St. Colman's, a majeStic building situated on a hill in the town famed for being the laSt port of call for the Titanic. The membership of the choir has grown considerably in the laSt five years and it now boaSts more than 30 voices. The choir is a previous winner at the world famous Cork Choral FeStival and has travelled to Vienna, London and Italy to perform at various events. In 2009 the choir was honored to be asked to sing in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City for the Sunday liturgy. That same year they also performed at WeStminSter Cathedral. They have been asked back to St. Peter's in July 2013 to perform again. This four part chorus (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) is devoted to music of all Styles, including Classical, Broadway and Contemporary tunes. These dynamic and talented Singers range in age from 14-25, and include young women in gr.11 and higher, and young men with changed voices. The SYC annually participates in the Family ChriStmas Concert, and choreographed year end show. They also Stage an OrcheStra Concert each spring, which has presented pieces such as Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Requiems by Mozart, Faure, Rutter, and Daley, to name a few. This year, the SYC looks forward to singing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. The Youth Chorus joined the senior and chamber choirs in their 2009 tour to the UK.
