A joyous exclamation which is set at a wedding, where the groom is being asked: "Where are you hiding the bride". Traditional Sesotho South African traditional music is known for their movement and dancing in their songs, and the UP Youth Choir accentuates this by highlighting the movement in their performance.

Somerville Choir is curr...  moreThe Choir of Somerville College Oxford, in its present form, was founded by Francis Knights and Sam Bayliss in 2001. The Choir sings evensong every Sunday during term and performs in concerts organised by Somerville Music Society. Somerville Choir is currently being conducted by David Crown. He is assisted by the two organ scholars, Douglas Knight and Robert Pecksmith (ofollow">http://www.robert-smith.org.uk ), and Choir manager Stefan Schwarz. Since David Crown took over as Director of Chapel Music in 2007, the Choir has been involved in two opera productions (Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas ' and Gluck's 'Orfeo ed Euridice') as well as concerts in Oxford, Brighton, Wells, Swindon, Upton upon Severn and Steeple Aston. In recent years the Choir has also sung evensong at Southwark, Worcester, Winchester, Wells and Berlin Cathedrals. The Choir has built an international reputation and has made it a trademark to include newly written music in its programmes. This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b....  moreThroughout its existence the chamber Choir Schola Cantorum has had high ambitions. The Choir has built an international reputation and has made it a trademark to include newly written music in its programmes. This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b. 1915), organist, composer and conductor, who returned to Norway in 1964 after studying in the USA and started a Choir at the music department of the University of Oslo. The Choir continues to recruit members from the department of music, as well as from the Norwegian Academy of Music in more recent years. The American choral tradition in which Nystedt was trained emphasises the importance of new music – a practice Nystedt brought back with him to Oslo. Knut Nystedt’s music became a vital element of Schola Cantorum’s repertoire. Tone Bianca Sparre Dahl became conductor in 2002, and has further established the Choir’s firm position in Norway’s musical life. She has continued Nystedt’s tradition of performing modern music. Founded as a male Choir in 1900, it became a Mixed Choir in 1907. The Choir was conducted for more than four decades by its founder, the renowned Choir conductor and composer Heikki Klemetti. The current artistic director, Esko Kallio (b. 1974), has conducted Suomen Laulu since 2002. The Choir's repertoire consists both a cappella works and compositions works for Choir and orchestra. Since 1921 the Choir has maintained the tradition of performing the St. Matthew Passion by J.S.Bach every Maundy Thursday in St. John's Church in Helsinki. Suomen Laulu has made five recordings, the most recent of which was published to celebrate Choir's centenary in 2000. The Choir also has its own series of publications, the "Suomen Laulun ohjelmistoa", which contains several of the finest pieces of Finnish choral music.  less
