Its activities soon expanded and now include a regular concert programme, we...  moreLichfield Cathedral Chamber Choir was established in 1980 (by Peter King, then Assistant Organist at Lichfield Cathedral) to sing services during the Cathedral Choir's holidays. Its activities soon expanded and now include a regular concert programme, weddings and services throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands, and guest appearances at other cathedrals. The Choir has a versatile repertoire of sacred and secular music ranging from the Renaissance to the contemporary, and it enjoys the challenge of new and experimental writing. Widely acclaimed Sunday morning broadcasts on BBC Radio 4 have raised its profile well beyond the region, as have its two appearances in the BBC Sainsbury's Choir of the Year Competition, several performances in the Lichfield International Festival, and the recordings 'In Every Corner Sing' (Regent REGCD196) & 'Belgian Choral Works' (Regent REGCD241) with the Lichfield Cathedral Choir and the Fine Arts Brass Ensemble. This smallest and most select of the Hofstra Choirs comprises the best singers at the University, both within and outside the Department of Music, and focuses on the distinct art of unaccompanied, or a cappella, ensemble singing, presented in carefully chosen performance spaces that are uniquely attuned to celebrate the human voice's potential. From an educational standpoint, the ensemble serves two main functions for the University. First, it acts as a laboratory for Hofstra’s future music educators, both undergraduate and graduate, providing outlets for the exploration of the art of ensemble preparation through the study of the highest-quality choral literature. Despite of the apparent differences, they are stron...  moreThe OV SINGERS is a Community Choir from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia (North Borneo) consist of members from different backgrounds who began their journey together as novice singing enthusiasts in 2015. Despite of the apparent differences, they are strong in musical passion and bonds, which is the essential spirit of Sabahan camaraderie. In 2015, they received further recognition as achievers of Level 5 Singing Ensemble with Distinction under the same international examination board. Recently, in June 2016, they completed their advanced Level 6 Singing Ensemble examination with an exceptional praise from the Senior Adjudicator of the Australian GUILD of Music Education. The OV Singers received their Grade 7 in Concert Certificate under the St. Cecilia School of Music International Examinations in December 2017.
