Our mission is to create a Boychoir that over time will become one of the finest in the country. The United States doesn't hAve the history of boy choirs that many European countries do but we can accomplish great things by educating boys in the art of singing and performing the finest music in the boy choir tradition. Teaching young boys the commitment and work necessary to accomplish a goal develops character, discipline, leadership, global awareness, and a strong commitment to excellence. The Fortis Boy Choir can and will accomplish these goals. We will help boys to feel good about what they can be and take these lessons with them into their future families and businesses.  less

This beautiful motet by the Dutch composer Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621) was recorded on 5th December 2010 in the Harvey Nichols Espresso Bar in Leeds' magnificent Victoria Quarter in the first of St Peter's Singers' now-traditional Sunday evening carol performances there. The choir is directed by Dr Simon Lindley, its Music Director since the Singers' formation in June 1977. A version for 3 part mixed choir (Soprano, Alto and Men) and organ is also available at: http://dwsolo.musicaneo.com/sheetmusic/sm-185192_mass_for_three_part_mixed_choir_and_organ.html Because of its gently exotic modal flavours, the music was deemed to hAve a ring of "oriental promise" by one appreciative member of the congregation at the first performance. This setting has been sung in Cathedrals in Manchester, Southwell and Dublin and the Agnus has also featured in services at Christ Church Didsbury. The recording here is the Agnus Dei sung by the Voluntary Choir of Manchester Cathedral during their visit to Southwell Minster.  less
