Through his diligent guidance, the group has impressed its audiences with the depth and range of its interpretive skills in performances of a capella early music repertoire. ESPRIT was awarded a first prize at the Peel Music Festival in April 2012, and is the proud recipient of the Hon. Barbara A. Hagerman Award for first place at the 2012 Ontario Provincial Music Festival. In August 2012, ESPRIT was awarded second place in the Canadian Nationals of the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals (Class 100 - Honourable Barbara A. Hagerman – Best performance by a community choral group 19 and up). As part of its mission the chorus seeks out performances in historical venues; in the summer of 2011, ESPRIT toured Montreal, Québec, performing at St-Joseph Oratory, Notre-Dame Basilica, Christ Church Cathedral and Marie-Reine-du-Monde Cathedral. Ha desarrollado, por tanto, una importante y extensa labor artística a lo largo de más de veinte años. Sus componentes, entre otras actividades de su amplio currículum musical, cuentan con la pertenencia al Coro Filarmónico de Europa, formación integrada por coralistas de todos los países de la Comunidad Europea. El grupo ha obtenido -desde el momento mismo de su creación- galardones en distintos certámenes: Primer Premio del Concurso de Villancicos de Hermandades del Trabajo (1990), Primer Premio de los Certámenes de Participación Ciudadana del Ayuntamiento de Madrid (1992), Primer Premio del Concurso para Artistas Noveles Pasa la Vida de RTVE (1994) y Primer Premio en el XXVI Concurso de Villancicos de Colmenar de Oreja (2012). His initial claim was also to promote new soloists a...  more The Rías Baixas Choir was presented in Vigo in January 2014 with the purpose of replacing the lack of choral formations that could collaborate with orchestras and chamber groups in Galicia (NW Spain). His initial claim was also to promote new soloists and serve as a tool for new and established composers specially from the Rias Baixas area. The Choir already has more than sixty performances, both self-managed and scheduled in various cycles or festivals such as Outono Lírico, Vigo Sinfónico, Barcia de Mera Religious Music Series, Nas Ondas, Portico Sonoro, Explurart, Cooltural Cambados and II Festival Groba. In these performances they have interpreted several fundamental works of the choral repertoire in all kind of stages of the four Galician provinces, both a capella and with instrumental accompaniment.
