We have a great musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the music of all kinds of different styles, how to sing, communication with the audience , keeping time, tuning, rhythm etc. The Choir works with musically trained people and singers entirely new to singing; some read music and some not. We give great Concerts, sometimes of classics such as Elijah (Nov 2012), madrigals, anthems, and lighter music such as the delightful Noah and his Floating Zoo. Like all Choirs however we need more singers to keep the Choir progressing. We are therefore expanding the ways we reach out to people who might like to give singing a try, or who would like to return to singing after a break, perhaps to have a family or because of a house move. Everyone is welcome (tenors are especially celebrated!!) You will now find the Choir has a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/wombournechoral)on which... less

Romulo as President of the University of the Philippines. Through its 50 years of existence, the group has metamorphosed from being a simple university chorale into a musical force of national and world stature.
Aside from its undeniable musical prowess and versatility in performing classical, Filipino folk, pop, and Broadway genres—all with ease, the Concert Chorus is also recognized as the pioneer of choreographed song for a Choir. This innovation was started by the late Dean Reynaldo T. Paguio in 1969, and flourished under top choreographers like Edru Abraham, Gener Caringal, Tony Fabella, Edna Vida, Sonia Domingo, Steve Villaruz, Rene Hofileña, Ianne Damian, Paul Morales, Allan Samonte, and Ernest Hojilla, to name a few. With current artistic and musical director Prof. Janet Sabas-Aracama, the UP Concert Chorus goes beyond the typical Choir performance style through choral art forms ... less

The group is composed of talented students of the college from different levels, gathered together by their common passion, the passion for singing. But talent and passion is not enough, rehearsing is also one of the essential elements in creating good music. With Mr. Karl Angelo Tangco, a voice major from the College of Music, as their conductor, they were able to produce great music together through continuous rehearsals, and so, the journey of the chorale begins... less
