This SATB group presents members from across the length and breadth of the island ranging in age from 16 to 26 years. Dynamic, gifted and spirited are some of the words used to describe this group of vocalists and Musicians. The JYC was founded by its principal director Gregory Simms, a member of the World Choir Council and National Coordinator for Music with the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission. We actively participate in cultural life of the towns of our influence, like Colmenarejo or Galapagar and in other towns like El Escorial or Valdemorillo, performing at Christmas, Easter, the festivity or "Galapajazz" as "opening act" of "Manhattan Transfer" and Art Garfunkel. We sang in PORTUGAL, Burgos Cathedral, the Church of the Magdalene Torrelaguna, the Monastery of St.. Domingo de Silos, Mecerreyes Church and Collegiate Covarrubias (Burgos), the Iglesia de la Santa Cruz of Carballiño (Orense), the Iglesia de Sta. María of Requena (Valencia), Ntra. Sra. del Buen Suceso or Las Calatravas in Madrid and at Mass on Sundays TVE issues, from the parish of Los Arroyos (El Escorial). We organize the Choral Events of Colmenarejo. The establishment of the chorus is to build a platform for the youth to promote choral Music and realize their dreams, as well as to organize different cultural exchange activities to promote Music and serve the society. In the summer of 2011, HKVC held their debut concert “Sing Out a Dream” in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall to raise funds to support the charitable work of the Lions Club of Central. In 2012, the chorus organized and performed five shows of a grand scale original youth choral Musical “Like. So?”. The Musical received positive comments and the chorus was even invited by renowned pianist Ms. Nancy Loo to an interview and performance in her RTHK 4 Radio Program “Cantilena”. In 2013, the chorus started planning to register themselves as a non-profit charitable organization and held a fundraising concert called “One Heart, One Voice”. More info and score can be found on www.stefanklaverdal.com “See, darkness covers the earth” is built on a previous piece for bass clarinet (or cello) and computer called "One of the seven angels". The title is a quote from book of revelations, and "See darkness..." is in its turn a series of other quotes that the first title refer to in various ways. It turns out that the references to me felt very contemporary and had to do with the current trends in society and that meant that I could both recompose something old, use new old texts that referred to an old piece of mine and construct a very contemporary and important piece that may both say something about our time and give hope for a better future. Each Choir member has a different and wide-ranging background in solo, operatic and competitive performance, which enhances the Choir’s ability to undertake some of the more challenging choral works and contributes to their fresh and unique sound. The Academy Chamber Choir’s repertoire spans from early to contemporary Music. Their most recent success was ranking third in “Irelands Choir of the Year” at Cork International Choral Festival 2013. They then went on to win 1st place in the Early Music, 1st place in the Irish Language and 2nd place in the Sacred Music at Navan Choral Festival 2013. They were 2nd place in RTE Lyric FM’s Choirs for Christmas Competition – Irelands largest choral competition featuring over 400 Choirs.
