During this time they have developed a reputation for their commitment to the highest level of musicality. Comprising some of the finest young singers in the country, members of the choir are all alumni of the Eton Choral Courses. Conducted by their founder Ralph Allwood, the Sound of the choir is a reflection of their profound sensitivity to text, blend and phrasing. They use imaginative programming, and have become known for their innovative and exciting performances and their extensive array of recordings. The most recent addition to this catalogue will be released in November 2013, and features works by Paul Mealor and Benjamin Britten. Does he want to kiss me? I’d give all the czar’s treasure for it." This concert was the culmination of a six-week Project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. There are no auditions and all songs are taught and learnt by ear. Singers are therefore welcome to apply at any point, since the group will be fixed from a central pool for each concert. Repertoire is wide-ranging, from Renaissance polyphony to commissions from established and emerging British composers. The group is directed by Hilary Campbell and welcomes interest from experienced and enthusiastic choral singers of all ages.

Are you interested in being part of an exhilarating new group, performing everything from Tina Turner to Thomas Tallis? Let us answer some questions for you… I’m new to singing in choirs. Does that matter? Absolutely not! VOCALIZE: Blackheath welcomes singers of all abilities and experiences, and the songs will be taught in a variety of ways to suit each singer.
