Today it comprises 23 selected singers, Cantilena meaning "lightweight song", deriving from the Latin word for "song" or "melody". Whenever possible, during concerts the members of the choir wear a pearl necklace to represent the significance of the activities pursued: each member of the choir is represented by one of the pearls, with the strand linking them all being the music - the main purpose of so much hard work to achieve artistic quality. As well as being an extremely feminine accessory, it also illustrates the quality, refinement, finish and musical beauty that the Academia Concerto pursues. The 35 members of Bat-Kol, ages 12 to 18, perform with the Israeli Opera, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra as well as taking part in theater productions, television programs, national public events and concerts for the general public. The choir has participated in numerous international festivals and competitions in which it won many gold medals. In April 2011 the choir won three gold medals and the Grand Prix of the Slovakia Cantat international competition in which tens of European male, female and mixed choirs competed.  less

We last performed this piece in October 2020 at a concert that took place between two national lockdowns, when it felt especially poignant.
