Our repertoire is all original, written by choir members and has emerged as a new tribal choral tradition that honors death as a natural, expected, sometimes very inspiring event in a life. While we don't require auditions, our welcome process is rigorous. This kind of singing is spiritual work and is deeply rewarding for those who are called to it.

It has since grown from a small choral group to a self-run community choir with a wide ranging repertoire, performing music that b...  moreKoruso!, meaning chorus in Esperanto, began in October 2008 as a Southwark Council initiative to promote community cohesion. It has since grown from a small choral group to a self-run community choir with a wide ranging repertoire, performing music that bridges cultures and unites faith traditions. The project won an ABC award in December 2009 at the Royal Society for the Arts and was cited by the judging panel as ”an excellent, innovative way of bringing people together through a shared passion for music”. Koruso! host performances at least twice a year and to date has performed at a variety of venues across its home borough and beyond. Members come from all walks of life and all across Southwark. We enjoy singing together every Thursday from 6:30pm at Oliver Goldsmiths Primary School, Peckham Road. New members are always welcome - particularly tenors and basses.  less

Han...  moreOur next concert will be : Handel : Israel in Egypt On 16 November 2025 at 7.30 All Saints Church Kingston will become the stage for intensely powerful musical drama as Kingston Choral Society opens their 75th season with a truly remarkable work. Handel’s Israel in Egypt is one of Handel’s most lavish and dramatic oratorios. Unusually, the soloists’ contributions are secondary as the choir is given the starring role in the turbulent narrative, relating the story of the Biblical plagues, the Israelites’ flight from Egypt via the parting of the Red Sea, and their triumph over the Pharaoh’s army. The plot unfolds in a series of thrilling and startlingly inventive choruses. It is fitting that KCS should introduce their 75th Anniversary season with a Handel oratorio. Formed in 1956 as the Derby Police Choir, the choir retained a long-standing connection with the Derbyshire Constabulary until 2018 when the choir separated from the police and rebranded with an emphasis on promoting male voice choral singing and raising ...  moreFormed in 1956 as the Derby Police Choir, the choir retained a long-standing connection with the Derbyshire Constabulary until 2018 when the choir separated from the police and rebranded with an emphasis on promoting male voice choral singing and raising money for charity- epitomised through charity registration in 2020. DCMVC rehearses Mondays 7:30-9:30pm at St Osmund's Church, London Road Derby. The choir is also available to book for events. For more information, see our website.

The choir continually strives to sing at professional standards under the expert musical directorship of David Crown. The choir has a varied programme throughout the year including charity concerts, festivals, workshops, Come and Sing events, CD recordings and a hugely popular Carol Concert.

Using the simple view that a good song is a good song, has meant that they bring together a collection of pieces that appeal to a wide audience. The choir delights in introducing new songs that are connected by their unique choral sound, rather than from a particular genre and it is this wide appeal and their sense of fun that has meant the group is in constant demand and continually attracts new members. Even in its early days the choir never quite conformed to the accepted norms of what should be included in their repertoire. However, this in no way hindered its appeal and it went on to win a number and prestigious competitions including one of the largest Eisteddfods for male choirs in Wales, an award for services to the arts from Chelmsford City Council and passed the advanced choral singing examination of The Associated Board of the Royal College of Music Successive musical directors contributed the choir`s ...    less
