Two years after its founding, it was awarded 1st Prize at the 29th National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The group performed in various events such as Miss Earth Pageant in 2003 and 2004. The group was also one of the featured artists in the Samu’t-Saring Tinig V at the Cultural Center of the Philippines; in a concert at the Clamshell in Intramuros in February 2003; and in the International Youth Music Festival sponsored by NAMCYA held at the CCP in December 2003. In 2004, the Choir released its debut CD featuring Ilocano favourites and winning competition pieces. In 2005, the Choir was handed over to its new conductor, Sherberk Cabrales. Tamariki offers a focus on thorough and excellent Music education, with singers learning about healthy vocal production, the body-voice connection, and vibrant performance presence as well as a strong emphasis on Musical literacy, Music theory, and sightsinging skills. As with all our ensembles, Tamariki provides a secure and accepting social environment where all singers feel their importance as members of the group. Most importantly, Tamariki has fun and creates exciting Music!
To better address the different needs and abilities of this diverse age range, the Choir is now split into two streams:
Tamariki 1 is for singers in Kindergarten and Grade 1. (Singers must be 5 years old by March 1, 2014 in order to register.)
Tamariki 2 is for singers in Grades 2 and 3.
